Beach Trip

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

We went to the beach this last weekend and it was 90 degrees the first day and just beautiful.  The wind didn’t even blow.  We had a great time and the girls loved the sand.  The babies had another checkup and they are perfect.  Both are 85-90 percentile in height and ~75 percentile in weight. They are working on crusing so I know walking is not too far off.

mmmm, ribs

Apparently they received Greyson’s carnivorous genes.  They each worked on a rib for a good half hour.

When Brother and Sister-in-law were here

Monday, May 5th, 2008

I’m a little late mentioning this, but in early April, we had Marty and Janie (my brother and sister-in-law) over. We had a wonderful time with them, and even got an extra day out of them thanks to the American Airlines maintenance snafu. Thanks for coming up, bro! I will find more photos. I think we took a few….

10 months old

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

Yes, the babies are 10 months old today.  We spent some time outside in the great weather and took a couple shots of the girls sitting in the “flowers”.  Samia ate as many dandelions as I would let her.  They are supposed to be edible right??

So what are the girls up to?

Both are pulling up to standing now.  And they have finally learned how to also get back down to sitting.  It took about a good 3 weeks of them standing in their crib, getting stuck standing and then screeming to be saved.  This didn’t make for very good naps during that time.

We have officially switched them off of bottles and on to sippy cups.  They like it so much better now that it doesn’t take them forever to get the milk out. Piper is finally getting the whole idea of finger foods.  Both eat really well and eat just about anything you set in front of them.   Samia seems to eat about 2X the amount of food that Piper does, but I think she is so active during the day she needs the extra food.  Yes, Red is always on the move.  Piper is just a bit more relaxed but is usually right there to back her sister up with what ever is needed.  They are especially good at tearing through a magazine in about 30 seconds. They are getting pretty big and at 10 months are already fitting snugly into  their 12 month clothes.

Both girls have said mama and dada.  They will repeat it to you if you ask them to say it but don’t yet associate it with the correct person.  I tend to here ”mama, mama, mama” when someone is tired or hungry.

This has been and will continue to be a busy spring for me.  I have been gone from home traveling or forced to leave super early (before babies get up) and return late (after babies are asleep) quite often.  Greyson has been picking up the baby slack but they are quite the handfull when dealing with them all alone. I know he is ready for me to be home for a while.  We may try to get out to the coast for a few days with just the four of us.  We have taken many trips with the girls, but also with our extended families, but have not yet actually taken a trip with just us four.  I think we could use some time away together with just us and no distractions.

So here are the latest pictures of the girls.  And yes I know, pink is not Samia’s color (and neither is orange).  The last picture is my favorite.  Samia had just finished lunch and some milk and was fat and happy reclining on the couch.  She looks so big to me in that picture.
